About Dot

Welcome to my tiny little corner of the blogosphere! My name is Dorothy, but I also go by Dot or Dotdot. I am a Virginia native, a Louisiana dweller, and a lover of literature, the mountains, and the simple joys in life. In my spare time, when I am not wrangling my children and trying to keep the house under control as a stay at home mom, I might enjoy a glass of red wine, some good reading, keeping after our homestead, or just snuggling up with my husband to a good show.  This little online space is unashamedly, first and foremost, a place for me to capture little memories of my family’s lives, as well as reflect on my own life.

I am married to my college sweetheart, Ross. We met our freshman year and have been in love ever since. He is the most fascinatingly complex, passionate person, I know. He helps me to see the beauty in living and loving, and I cannot imagine life without him.

We have an almost three year old daughter, Lúthien Marie. She is a beautiful, introverted soul, who loves to be outside, dance, sing, read books, and be altogether sweet. She is a little mother to her little brother Rainer and finds the greatest joy in making him laugh.

Rainer is one year old, probably an extroverted child, and is already quite the (reckless) adventurer. He is quite the charmer and becomes more talkative with each day.

We live in Southeast Louisiana, in the incredible hometown of my husband with our French Brittany, Brego. Here the sun is hot, the food is good, and the people are family. We attempt to maintain a modest little homestead, fondly named “Hobbitry Homestead” that is ever changing with a garden, chickens, and rabbits – sometimes not at the same time.

If you happen to follow along in my simple updates, reflections, and tangents, please please say hello!

  1. Hi sweetheart. I enjoyed reading your blog! Great reflections and writing. By the way, both of the ER visits with your mama were the same hospital. Love you, Daddy
